Best Time (Dry Seasons)
June to September
The long dry season offers the easiest trekking conditions with less muddy trails. This is peak season for gorilla trekking with excellent visibility and comfortable temperatures.
December to February
The short dry season provides another excellent window for visiting, with fewer tourists than the June-September period. Great for gorilla trekking and wildlife viewing in Akagera.

Alternative Times (Wet Seasons)
March to May
The long rainy season brings lush, green landscapes and excellent birdwatching. Gorilla permits are more available and accommodations offer lower rates. Trails can be muddy but gorillas are still very accessible.
October to November
The short rainy season offers a good compromise with occasional showers but generally clear afternoons. Lower tourist numbers and good availability for permits.
Note: Gorilla trekking is available year-round in Rwanda. The weather may affect trekking difficulty but not the experience quality. Book permits well in advance (3-6 months) regardless of season.
