Essential Packing List
Important Information
- Gorilla permits must be booked 3-6 months in advance due to limited availability
- Minimum age for gorilla and chimp tracking is 15 years
- Trekking can be strenuous - good fitness level required
- You must be healthy - anyone with illness will not be allowed to trek
- Maintain 7-10 meters distance from primates at all times
- Flash photography is strictly prohibited
- No eating, drinking, or smoking during primate viewing
- Wear earth-toned clothing (no bright colors)
- Trekking may be cancelled due to extreme weather
- Nyungwe Forest can be cool and wet - bring warm layers
