Important Information

  • Gorilla permits must be booked 3-6 months in advance due to limited availability
  • Minimum age for gorilla and chimp tracking is 15 years
  • Trekking can be strenuous - good fitness level required
  • You must be healthy - anyone with illness will not be allowed to trek
  • Maintain 7-10 meters distance from primates at all times
  • Flash photography is strictly prohibited
  • No eating, drinking, or smoking during primate viewing
  • Wear earth-toned clothing (no bright colors)
  • Trekking may be cancelled due to extreme weather
  • Nyungwe Forest can be cool and wet - bring warm layers
