  • Gorilla permits must be booked 3-6 months in advance
  • Minimum age for gorilla and chimp tracking is 15 years
  • Good fitness level required for trekking activities
  • You must be in good health - no illness allowed during primate viewing
  • Maintain 7-10 meters distance from all primates
  • Flash photography strictly prohibited with primates
  • Pack layers - temperatures vary from cool mountains to warm savanna
  • This itinerary covers significant distances across Rwanda
  • Lake Kivu is bilharzia-free and safe for swimming
